In Memory of College Years

It is often said that school years are supposedly the best years of a person’s life. That is the time that most people would look back towards and say it was the time when simplicity and naiveté could be felt, smelt & touched.

   What immediately follows is a time which is a transitional phase, a time where the remaining raw parts of the pot are finally moulded into what forms the ultimate shape of life. College is a time where the sprouting buds enter their final blossoming stage, a stage where they reach a new level, which exposes them to much more than they could have ever anticipated. For us, the students of Symbiosis International University, it was exactly what we expected- the unexpected.

Coming to college and living through these four years was a challenge which we accepted with our idealistic spirits intact and fully boosted morales. We were ready to conquer the world and we were ready to do so fast. Our paths were very well defined in our minds, and all lead to the ultimate goal of achieving it all and seeing our dreams come true. Little did we know about the new friend we were going to come across- reality. These four years have probably given us a unique taste of life, something which is motley of so much- bliss, shock, breakdowns, backstabbing, abuses, surprises, rewards, friendships, rumours, love, heartbreaks and everything that could ever go chaotic. This experience has been a criss cross of the law of attraction and Murphy’s law, making it one in a gazillion. We all have gone through it together, yet everyone’s version is different and highly unique. Words cannot even begin to sum up what all has happened in this time gone by. Since fashion communication has enhanced my organizational skills so much, making lists comes naturally to me which is how i want to conclude my experience. So here are the top 20 experiences/events which I went through, things which had never happened before and things which I certainly did not expect.

1.     Indulged in unorthodox behaviour within authoritative premises

2.     Been physically charged at by an auto guy

3.     Had a case filed against my name

4.     Heard the most insane rumour

5.     Misbehaved intentionally with college authority

6.     Been called a ‘frog/rabbit/mouse/lion/lizard’ ( generally thought it’d be a b!#(@)

7.     Shouted out  loud and called someone a s*@# in a crowd

8.     Been heartbroken and almost beaten down

9.     Discovered my ugliest, strongest, craziest side

10.  Lost 6 phones

11.  Lived with boys (new for a girl with a convent background)

12.  Cleaned someone else’s puke

13.  Had a crush on someone repulsive at present

14.  Had a deep conversation with a roadside hippie

15.  Been asked to the cop station because of my title

16.  Danced in the middle of traffic

17.  Spent private hours at the pot trying to physically apply the word ‘stationary’

18.  Been addressed as ‘drunk/weirdo/hippie/servant/s*&%/egocentric/retard/thief/deranged’

19.  Attempted to go to the gym ( successfully for 5 days)

20.  Met the most insane set of people I’ve ever known
